FROZEN SOUND | NUR

Frozen sound is an architectural mapping, an attempt at synaesthetic experience, created by Formate.concept as a part of the festival mapping show NUR 2022 x АК БАРС ДОМ in Kazan. Artwork was projected on the facade of the City magistrate.

Mapping projection is a motion content that is created specifically for the location and uses precise geometry of the architecture to produce a visual illusion, usually supported by music. Working with such an art format, we always follow the idea of Schelling and Goethe: architecture is frozen music. We believe that visual and auditory experience of the projection mapping not only support each other, but come in synthesis to create new media experience. Therefore, creation of the experience always starts with the analysis of the location. How does this building sound? How do we show it?
